Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts?

Rubi Romo: First, I just want to make sure that you know that SCPA is a Cincinnati public school for grades 4 to 12. Second, it is not a residential school, so if you live very far outside of the Cincinnati area, you would also have to arrange for housing while you're here. (Yes, I live in Cincinnati. Although my two kids attended other Cincinnati public schools, they had several elementary school friends who went to SCPA.) The school's web site indicates that they are not currently accepting applications but that may change before the fall term starts in August; it also seems to indicate that they assume auditions will be in person....Show more

Alphonso Brake: While film music like Hanz Zimmer and John Williams is attracting some people to dwelve a little bit more into the realm of "classical music", a lot of people, and I mean A LOT, never ever goes to the oprah house or the symphony hall. Why? Because there is no good reason for them to go there and spend time. O! n top of that, if the price for a ticket is a little bit "high", then it won t make much sense at all to go there. I ll give you and example concerning young adults (20-30 yrs): Let s say they have two choices of concerts to go to. The first is a symphony concert where the play, say Beethoven. The other choice is a rock concert of, say Bruce Springsteen. Now, both tickets to either concert costs 50 $. What are the people going to choose? The rock concert of course! Why? Because it makes much more sense to them to go to the rock concert where the play music that feels more familiar to them rather than a classical concert where they really aren t even knowing what they ll get. And even if they are somewhat familiar with classical music, they ll still take the rock choice. That is what they like more, that is what they listen to more on a regular basis....Show more
