Terresa Tsasie: My dogs love to tug-of-war with old socks. Other than that, try building something with reactive objects, like a bell that the dog can ring if he hits the clapper with his nose, etc. These are great to teach him spatial perception and increase his understanding of the world around him. Some birds have been known to be able to solve homemade puzzles that require them to free a piece of food by pulling levers with their beaks.
Lindsey Zanardi: Our dog loves old socks knotted together. He tosses them & plays alone but he likes to fetch it & play tug of war with it too
Delmer Pectol: WARNING: If you turn your old socks into a dog toy, you're teaching your dog to find that smell and destroy the item. This will not do good things for your wardrobe. If you must use socks, go buy some new, super-cheap dollar store ones. Put a few pieces of dry dog food in the sock before you knot it, and the dog will understand what's his and what's yours.
Jed Porada: give them an old shoe. never give them Rawhide chews,as they r bad for thier intestines. No bones ...they splinter in thier stomach and intestines too. And stuffed animals are out...the stuffing can block thier bowels and kill them . Rubber balls are out unless they are tennis balls , but b careful in larger dogs there could be achoking hazard there. be on the safe side ...old shoes are best or you can use an old shirt for a round of tug-of -war..... throw some sticks around , play fetch...have fun...Show more
Hal Palowoda: Do you need help on making them? I wouldn't make my dog homemade toys he probably wouldn't like it and i don't know if he can play with it. So i would just buy the small pack toys go to Target i found a pack of toys on sale
Lenard Ginyard: ROPE, TENNIS BALLS, FRISBY, A CAT, OLD CLOTHING !!!
Autumn Vacio: i say yes! my doggies looove dog toys and loooove to make them into plush road kill.
Ruthe Real: Rope dog toy -! Tug-o-war Some of the best ropes to use are the larger ones m! ade out of cotton or cotton yarn. In stores these are often called "Rope Bones". These can be safer for your dog than synthetic fibers which have a tendency to cut into the gums. Use a large enough rope depending on the size of your dog, probably about 1 to 2 feet long is good enough. It's best to either tie a simple knot at one end for you to hold onto, and at the other end, either tie a knot or fashion a "loop" so that the dog has something to grab onto. I have made a few rope toys that have a plastic hollow piece on the person's end (looks like the pull handles for water skiing) so that he can grab onto it securely. At the other end you should tie a non-slipping noose so that there is something to grab onto for the dog. To use the rope toy make sure your dog has enough room to pull and show him his end of the rope toy. Never hit him with it to get him interested, that will only make him afraid of the rope or make him angry. Let him sniff it and once he gets the idea that! this is HIS toy and it's OK to bite it he may try and pull it away. At that point, let the tug 'o war commence!...Show more
