royal navy fitness test?

Gabriel Realmuto: Navy Fitness Test

Arden Strachn: I have done the fitness test for the army (which is roughly the same but a little harder, the run is in the selection at an army base) and i have knowledge of the navy as i first wanted to join them (I went to the career office and trained for the run) but then i decided on the army instead. If you are only just starting training now, then you have left it very late. You'll just have to do the best you can. As the run is on a treadmill for the navy, perhaps you could go to your gym and practise as well as doing outdoor running too. Do interval training and hill running to build strength and endurance but do not over do it or you will be riddled with injury and this is the worst time you could possibly get injured especially as it is so close to the test. Do intense exercise 3x per a week and maybe have one day with some light exercise and plenty of rest. Running mostly but other lighter exercises which will tone and! build your muscle like swimming, cycling and walking. Do some light weights as well. Keep active, eat protien, carbs but not too much, fruit and veg, a little fat for energy but not too much and drink PLENTY of water. Now get to it and good luck!...Show more

Elva Batie: you will not knock a minute of your time in 1 month --- you need to do consistent speed work alternating with long runs for at least 2 months to have any chance. you need to run 5x400m flat out with 2min jogs in between for week1 then 6x the same for week 2 then 7x same for week 3 then 8x same for week 4 this interval running has to be done at least 3 times per week on the day you are not interval training do longish runs starting at 3 miles and building up to 10 miles over 8 weeks then you will have no problem...Show more
