Felipa Nosis: not to be rude, but dont do math, unless your gonna be an astronomer, or a teacher... what else can you do?you like to help people go for the Psy. it's more of a general degree. dont limit yourself.
Dorethea Beaston: I suggest something a little different. Go ahead and do the double major. High schools need psychology teachers as well as math teachers. You could teach both subjects. After you get your bachelor degree, begin the education requirements. My district, and I imagine quite a few others, allow you to teach at the same time that you are completing the education classes. You'll want a master's anyway. Some states require it within a few years of teaching, and it really enhances your income. You might even be able to do the ed classes online.Good luck...Show more
Verdie Wollen: Teaching may not pay very well but it is a rewarding career and it sounds to me like you really want to teach. My advice is to persue the math degree which c! ould reward you with additional stipends and signing bonuses depending on the school district you work for. Math teachers will always be needed.
Indira Wassell: Also, can I go to grad school in psych without a BA in psych maybe like a minor?
Corey Rohleder: I would finish your BA in psychology and do a post-bac in math education. You will easily get a job as a math teacher because they are in demand. I am student teaching and I know math teachers are a hot commodity. With a BA in psychology, you will not make much money because it is so general. You would need at least a masters degree to make any real money. My fiance has a BA in psychology and had medicore jobs paying around $30,000/yr, but now he is getting his Ph.d and will eventually be a professor and make much more than that $30,000. Best of luck....Show more
Terrell Lawman: From someone with a BS in Psychology, I would recommend your Secondary Math Degree. Teaching is an admirable profession and ! our schools are desperate for good teachers. Jobs in the fiel! d of psychology with only a Bachelor's Degree are limited. You would need to get a Master's Degree to counsel or a PHD to go into clinical practice.
Kris Bozelle: I want to make it clear that my intentions in Math would be to teach in High School. Not become and engineer or go to grad school in math. I could go to grad school in psych but I am not sure if I really want to do that.
